Judgment without accountability.

GCW's trademark column is a comprehensive review of the entire active roster. Written by a different anonymous contributor each week, Unique Critique is the most honest assessment of each member's performance you can find. The commentary ranges from complimentary to mercilessly cruel, so if you can't handle it, don't read on! But if you want to know how each roster member stacks up in the eyes of one writer, Unique Critique offers you the chance.

-Mediocre -Average -Good -Great -World Class

Disclaimer: Author's Introduction: As per usual, ratings will be allocated based on the hander's all-round contribution to GCW. This includes roleplays, segments, matches, feuds, character development, backstage contribution... just about everything you can think of, basically. A lot of these comments will be generic given that GCW has added so many new faces recently and we, as readers, have not had a great deal of time to get to know these people. I won't pull any punches, either; what you will get is an honest appraisal of your contribution, regardless of who you are.

AXEL Action
AXEL has made great strides over the past year or so but unfortunately it looks like his development has stalled recently. The handler has reached a difficult point, and he needs to really push himself as a writer if he wants to progress. I don't need to waste column space talking about how much better he is now than he was when he joined, but AXEL has work to do if he wants to keep himself from stagnating. His loose allegiance with Garbage Bag Johnny is certainly a good starting point. His match-writing is getting better and so is his seg-work, and it is very important that he bounces back after a deflating loss to Dan Black at NC-17. He writes at a higher level than most people who compete in the hobby, but he has to do a little bit more if he wants to make that main event progression.

Phil Atken
A hard one to rate as Phil has only been back for a couple of weeks. I'm probably going to give a 2.5 rating to a lot of guys, as it doesn't really seem fair to give them anything else at the moment. So far the handler has proven his worth with some entertaining segments and roleplays, and a well-written WorldWide match. The handler's biggest problem during his previous GCW spells was longevity, but he's started off very well this time around. His character has always been entertaining, so if he can keep-up with this kind of work-rate then I'm sure he'll find success.

Kid Cool / Dead Cool
I don't really have anything to rate the guy on, at the moment. He's introduced himself on the OOC boards and he seems to know a few handlers already, which will certainly make things easier for him.

Digital Mortality
The trouble with Digi is that I often have great troubling working out whether he is here or not. The handler seems to work at his own pace, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that if he's contributing regularly, but he seems to go missing for months at a time and Digi ends up lost in the shuffle. I don't know what the handler's personal situation is, so it would be unfair for me to criticise him too much in that regard, but Digi desperately needs some consistency. He's held the American Dream for months and done nothing with it, and while he has roleplayed a couple of times recently, he badly needs to re-establish his on-card presence. It's such a shame that he has trouble applying himself, as the handler is easily one of the most talented writers in the fed. There's no question that he'd be a World Title contender if he could muster 10-12 months of solid activity.

Donny Diamond
After overcoming some initial difficulties adapting to the way we do things in GCW, Diamond is doing fine for himself. I've never been a massive fan of dark gimmicks and I'm not sure that Diamond does enough to differentiate himself from similar characters. In that respect, I find Donny Diamond to be quite a cookie cutter character. Saying that, Diamond is a unique flavour on the GCW roster and that will help separate him from the pack. The feud with Equinox and SurReal was enjoyable enough, so hopefully the handler will slot into something else to help maintain his momentum.

PAZUZU, THE DARKNESS
I don't think anyone could have predicted the impact P-ZU would have. Written-off by cynics as a Varga-clone when he signed, PAZUZU has become one of the funniest characters on the roster. His segments are a weekly highlight for me, and his roleplays, while not without their flaws, have been great fun. He's doing well for himself, and if I were to give him any advice, I'd just say keep doing what you're doing. The character may not be everybody's favourite but P-ZU is unique, and that's enough to make his contributions to WorldWide stand out from everyone else's. To many, his defeat of Tempest was a big upset, but I have no doubt that PAZUZU will go on to be one of the best Television Champions in recent memory.

Lori Equinox
Dropped a point or two because I'm not sure if he's still here or not. He was producing decent work with SurReal and Diamond before NC-17, but with the aftermath of that match, I really don't have a clue what's going on. There's been no indication (from an IC standpoint) as to whether he's still part of the roster or not. Confusing.

Aaron Fujita
Another new guy that I can't say much about. He's made a good start with a few segments and a roleplay, so hopefully he can make a good account of himself in the forthcoming Rampage tournament.

Clyde Fox
I feel like Clyde's current situation is similar to AXEL's. A handler who has improved exponentially since he joined the roster, but hasn't really shown a lot of improvement as of late. The character has a lot of fans (and rightly so), but I haven't really noticed any improvement in his writing in quite some time. I love the new "fatass" angle, but the feud with LeStatt Knight, while good, didn't turn out as great as I thought it would (even if the blow-off match was fantastic). The handler continues to put a lot of good work into the fed, though. He matchwrites, judges, and segs pretty much every week. In that respect, there's not really much more we can ask of him. Clyde's been hovering on the fringes of the Main Event for an eternity, though; it's about time he made that concentrated push towards the stratosphere.

Triumph Frost
Again, he's only been here for a few weeks. I'll refrain from passing comment until I see more from him.

T.A. Giles
You know the drill with these new guys by now. No segments as of yet but his solitary roleplay was one of the best debut pieces I've read in quite some time. Giles now needs to go on and establish an on-air presence, as several of his fellow new-hires are already ahead of him in that respect.

Normal John Johnson
Brand new, but debuted with a nice segment at WW128. The handler has a reputation as a good writer and a hard worker; I expect big thing from him and his character in GCW.

LeStatt Knight
Knight deserves every kind word that is said about him. He's a GCW institution. As the years pass, others may match his list of accolades, but nobody will ever be able to equal LK's status in GCW folklore. I've never come across anyone in the game with as much presence of character as Knight, and that's come from years of hard work into perfecting the character. While the handler doesn't write as many matches as he used to, he's constantly involved in interesting, entertaining feuds, and his seg-work is unrivalled. He mightn't be the fed's best technical writer, but he's a brilliant storyteller and the best in the fed at that respect. LeStatt Knight has been at the top of the card for a long time; he's continually evolved his character over him to prevent staleness and keep himself relevant. He started out in GCW a long time ago, and he's still the best in the business. Long may he continue.

Logan
Insert generic newbie comment here. Decent debut roleplay, and I felt he and Rick Mad might have defeated Mortifera on another week. Keep it up.

Andy Murray
He may have lost his title to Knight, but Murray remains one of GCW's most valuable players. He's been an incredible competitive since he joined GCW two years ago, and his record-breaking title reign speaks for itself. I wasn't initially sold on the character when he debuted in 2008, but Murray has evolved into the fed's ultimate babyface and he continues to be a larger-than-life presence on the cards. OOC-wise, the handler does as much work as anybody when it comes to match-writing, judging, and offering feedback. His work-rate has been strong and he shows no sign of letting up, even now that he has lost his belt. 2010 may not be quite as successful as 2009 was for him, but I don't expect Murray's performances to drop as he continues to battle his way towards HOF consideration.

Bryan Mayhem
At this point in time, Bryan Mayhem is better than he's ever been. His last few spells in GCW were patchy and inconsistent, but he's been fantastic since his return at Dangerous Games. He's consistently churned out roleplays and segments, and while I would like to see him offer more in the way of matches and feedback, he's earned his place as the Hardcore Champion. I cannot think of a man better suited to hold that belt than Bryan; they call him "The Lunatic" for a reason, and that reason is evident to anyone who's read any of this maniac's work recently! Keep up the good work.

Rick Mad
Yeah, you already know what I'm going to say here.

The Magnificent Messiah
He's already making himself well-known on the OOC boards so that's a good sign. Seems like a friendly guy who's determined to make a name for himself in GCW.

Oliver Ranken
His name has been on the roster and he's signed-up for a couple of segments, but where is this guy? He's had backstage access for quite some time and still hasn't produced any work. I've seen the character go over well in other feds and I know that the handler is quite talented, but he really needs to start showing everyone that he's still here.

Rasa
New dude who I know absolutely nothing about. Good luck to you, sir.

Rikki Roxx
I know that Rikki Roxx has a number of salivating fanboys in GCW, but there's no way I can give more than one star to an NPC. How entertaining the character is varies greatly depending on who is writing him. His presence is wildly inconsistent; one week he's funny, the next he's just annoying. Sometimes it feels as though whoever is writing him is trying too hard to be wacky and zany.

Bishop Steele
A strange one. He always roleplays when he's booked, but I struggle to see what he brings to the table outside of that. While his roleplays aren't the best, he has at least been consistent and he has shown a few slight improvements recently. Where are this guy's segments, though? Why isn't he submitted on-card material? Why hasn't he written a couple of matches by now? Why hasn't he volunteered to judge? I'm sorry, but the guy just doesn't do enough for my liking. He is doing the bare minimum to keep himself on the roster, but he needs to significantly alter his contribution if he ever wants to be considered a contender.

Jorge Samuelsson/Shaman
I've combined Shaman and Jorge into one entry given that they're handled by the same person. Again, the handler might not be the best writer in the world, but he usually submits when called upon and continually offers to write matches and judge roleplays. He chips in with some feedback every now and then, too. What stops me from giving him a higher rating is that his work doesn't seem to have evolved over time at all. I can detect no difference in quality between a Shaman RP from two years ago and a Mortifera RP from last week. There's not anything wrong with this; the handler does his thing and does it proudly. If he's doing what he enjoys, then cool. I just think that he needs to shake things up a bit.

Slash
New guy who's already roleplayed and segged. He drew a tough first opponent in Giles, but I'm sure Slash will be a big success in GCW. A lot of the new signings have done a good job of establishing themselves already, and Slash falls inside that bracket.

SurReal
SurReal definitely came out of the DWO feud looking strongest. The character is still somewhat vanilla when he appears on WorldWide, but the roleplays have been improving in quality and he's certainly earned his shots at the Television Title. He can easily be 2010's AXEL Action if he keeps going, and I would certainly expect to see him in the US division before the end of the year. He's had a couple of no-shows since he joined, though; he really needs to start cutting them out if he wishes to progress up the card. I'd love to see a dominant SurReal showing the Rampage Tournament, though.

Tim Shipley
New guys, take note; this is how you establish yourself in GCW. Sure, the handler may have had it relatively easy after being allowed to step into Caldera's power struggle angle, but he's worked his ass off on the seg-front and has produced a match and a roleplay too. Shipley is now one of the strongest presences on the card, and he's barely been here for a couple of months. Time will tell if he has the longevity to do something big in GCW, but he's made his mark like none other and he's my early pick for the Rampage Tournament. Seriously; if you're struggling to make headway in GCW, take a leaf out of Shipley's book. He's integrated himself better than anyone else has in the past 12 months.

Jay Terror
Talk about a guy who's been on-fire since he came back. At times, Terror seemed to struggle for identity after his 2008 heel turn, but there are no such concerns these days. Terror has benefitted greatly from his time away and has come back a much stronger presence. Jay is more refined, and the handler has improved as a writer. His feedback is second to none, his feuds are great (even if he was let down at NC-17 by an absent partner), and he writes as many matches as anybody. There really isn't much else I can say about the guy.

Tempest
Tempest has been unlucky in that she's come into the fed at the same time as a lot of equally strong competitors, but she's doing fantastically well for herself. Like Shipley, she's wasted little time in integrating herself into the fed. I definitely feel like she was involved in far too many segments during her first few shows, but I've really come to appreciate the character since she calmed down in that regard. While she's finding her feet as a match-writer, I view her as one of the most important people on the roster. The title loss to P-ZU will have been tough to swallow but she'll bounce back. As it stands, her segments are excellent and her roleplays are very good. I expect her to make huge waves in GCW.

Vivica J. Valentine
Another GCW institution. In my eyes, Valentine's GCW status is only better by LeStatt Knight, and she's definitely going to wind-up in the HOF one of these days. After years as GCW's biggest face, Valentine is now one of the most dastardly heels on the roster, which should bring out a new lease of life in the character. Her feuds are always entertaining and her segs are as good as anybody's. Why four stars instead of five, then? As I mentioned, I'm rating people based on their all-round contributions. As it stands, I feel as though I can't put Valentine in the same bracket as the Jay Terrors of the world because the handler doesn't do as much work. I rarely see him roleplaying (although that has improved recently), and I never see him signing up to match-write. For these reasons, I cannot give Valentine the maximum rating.

Tessa Windsor
The fed is full of characters who've done brilliantly since Dangeorus Games, but for me, nobody has shone brighter than Tessa Windsor. Her feud with Markus Stone was easily the best of the NC-17 cycle. The handlers played on the history between Stone and Windsor brilliantly, and the conclusion was very satisfying. Now, with a huge victory over Stone under her belt, Tessa continues to march towards the World Title scene, which is where she truly belongs. Windsor has been threatening to break into the WT picture for a long time, and it seems as though she's finally about to do that. This is thanks to the handler, who has really stepped her game up since coming back.

The Wolfeinator
Again, nothing more than one star for an NPC. When was the last time Wolfey was actually on a show?

Zoey
See above.
