Legal Issues Between GCW and Just?
GCW's recent raiding of the Just roster may invite litigation
By Franklin Faulkner Apr 6 2010
As has been noted on GCWOnline.net, the Global Championship Wrestling roster has exploded in recent weeks, thanks in large part to Commissioner Garbage Bag Johnny's aggressive recruiting.
What GCW fans may not realize is that nearly all of the new talent has flooded in from Just Wrestling, the independent promotion operated by GCW Wrestler Tim Shipley.
While Shipley has not publicly commented on the issue, his conduct on WorldWide the past two weeks has been decidedly sour. Sources now believe that Just backers are privately fuming about GCW's raiding of its talent pool, but GCW denies it has done anything wrong.
GCW's recent success has led to a flood of calls from wrestlers on the independent circuit hoping to catch on with the world's biggest wrestling promotion. And though GCW has signed most of Just's top stars, none of their contracts preclude them from further appearances with Just.
Still, there are some loyal Just fans who are angry at the perception that the big bully GCW is weakening a successful potential competitor.
GCW and Just had enjoyed strong relations until recently, and an open sharing of talent had taken place. Top GCW stars like Jay Terror and Andy Murray had competed in Just, a show of good faith from GCW in exchange for taking promising young talent from the independent scene. But now that the "sharing" has become a straight flood into GCW, some associated with Just are becoming upset.
It has been said that Just may be open to bringing litigation against GCW, but this may simply be fan rhetoric. Even if Just did decide to take on GCW, it is unlikely that they would have the funding to compete in a courtroom.
We'll keep you posted as we try to get Shipley's thoughts on the subject.
