GCW Writing Guide

GCW President Steven Caldera

Global Championship Wrestling is owned by Steven Caldera. Caldera, along with his sometime-group The Establishment, loves having his hands on the strings of the company. When he is touring with the company, he can be used to make matches, set stipulations, and generally cause havoc. Caldera is free to be used by anyone, but as his appearances usually suggest something is changing, you must clear his use with the staff first.

While Caldera can be a useful tool, his use is generally discouraged. Again, you should feel free to incorporate him into your plans, but if you can execute your plan without him, do it! The controlling GM-Owner-Commissioner-President angle has been well covered between Vince MacMahon, Eric Bischoff, and countless others. There once was a time in wrestling when wrestlers weren't required to clear their every move with an authority figure. Rather than looking to Caldera whenever you need something, consider how you can do it yourself.

Want a match made? Rather than demanding it from the boss, consider simply proposing it to your opponent. If both parties agree, there's no need to clear it with the boss. Just make it happen. If you want a stipulation, again, try issuing a challenge. Try tricking your opponent into agreeing, or try coaxing them into it through dialogue.

Of course, there are times when Caldera will be useful. However, GCW also has a Commissioner, Christian Zenith, who may be used for the same purpose. Caldera is primarily concerned with the GCW World Championship, and as such his attention will be focused there. Most of the roster should use Zenith when seeking an authority figure. Of course, when the situation demands you seek out the highest authority, Caldera's the man.

Writing Steven Caldera

Caldera is very cold and calculating, and he hardly ever shows what he's thinking. A former world-class wrestler in his own right, Caldera knows all sides of the business and cannot easily be fooled or intimidated. As Caldera is a character that recurs through a show, never use violence when interacting with him. It's probably not a good idea to threaten him, either; that's not how to get what you want.

Caldera is concerned with ratings and image. He surrounds himself with people he feels fits the perfect image, but understands the necessity of employing a variety of wrestlers. Therefore, he'll never threaten to fire, suspend, or otherwise remove a wrestler. He will, however, be happy to aid in the humiliation or physical suffering of a rival wrestler. To have a request granted by Caldera, appeal to his business sense. Your request should either make things more exciting, or result in some harm coming to a wrestler he finds unsavory. If things are presented in a respectful and logical manner, Caldera will be apt to grant a request... as long as it doesn't conflict with his own designs.
